Laura Zam Official Bio

 

Laura Zam is a TEDx speaker, bestselling author, and Certified Trauma Professional with over two decades of experience translating cutting-edge research into real-world strategies for resilience and well-being. She’s the creator of The Resilience Shortcut™, a science-backed method that helps professionals regulate stress and recover quickly—by harnessing simple moments of delight already embedded in daily life.


Laura's work is grounded in neuroscience, psychology, and trauma-informed care, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional wellness programs that often feel overwhelming or out of reach.
 

Laura has presented at the American Psychological Association, Verizon, Discovery Communications, Reston Hospital Center, CBRE Real Estate, and many other organizations.  She has been on faculty at Brown University, UC Berkeley, George Mason University, as well as presenting at many other universities across the U.S.  Additionally, she has worked internationally with youth from conflict zones in the Middle East and Europe—helping them build resilience and conflict resolution skills.

Before turning her focus to mental health and workplace well-being, Laura spent years in professional theater, where she wrote and performed seven acclaimed one-person shows that she presented around the globe, and Off-Broadway. Grants include a Graduate Fellowship from Brown University, the Solomon Education Grant, an Open Society Fund grant, a Tennessee Williams Fellowship, and eight Fellowship grants from DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

Laura's work has been featured in many media outlets, including The New York Times, NBC-TV, HuffPost, Salon, and PBS. She's taught at Brown University, UC Berkeley, George Mason, and many other colleges. She holds an Masters from Brown University, where she studied with Pulitzer Prize winners Paula Vogel and Nilo Cruz.

 

In addition to her writing and speaking, Laura occasionally works directly with individuals on improving their pleasure empowerment. This work is related to her book The Pleasure Plan as well as her certification through The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. She's also a member of National Speakers Association, Yoga Alliance, and the American Society for Journalists and Authors.  

Laura is currently at work on a new book that features tea houses across the entire United States--one in each state. This forthcoming memoir will explore the relationship between tea drinking and resilience.
